suburban wildlife

So I stayed up entirely too late last night playing with the new camera. What fun! I went to bed a 2:30 and the alarm went off at 5:30-----no, no just a few more minutes I beg you. But no, it was off to work for me. And here is what I get for not getting enough rest, a cold sore is blooming on my lip. I haven't had one in two years. Aren't I the lucky one.
I took that picture at work today on my lunch break. We have 4 large buildings surrounding a swamp, a designated wildlife sanctuary, with a boardwalk/bridge over it to facillitate getting around. I walk across it most days. It's very peacefull, full of birds and squirells. I've seen blue, grey, and white heron, egret, ducks, hawks and once an eagle. Of course there are crows everywhere, you can't get away from them here, and that's just the way I like it.
There are numerous ponds on the property, we had an alligator last year, and once a bobcat.
The swamp is filled with cypress trees, some maple, palmettos, unidentified native Florida shrubbery, palmettos, ferns, and a red and green ground cover. Sometimes it's underwater, and sometimes not. Right now we have puddles. In the spring the ground cover will get tiny white flowers all over it. A flower carpet. Late spring sometimes brings rain, last year we stood on the boardwalk and watched 5 snakes racing through the water. zzzzzip. zoom.
This morning I worked on my journal and was almost late for work, I didn't want to stop the creative flow. And now I'm too tired. Tomorrow, the blessed weekend.
I'm off now to finish my SoulCollage Card. I have to write the story. When I'm done, I'll share.
peace.
